Last week we attended the first ever Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Discovery Day at King’s College. The free public event involved a panel of experts and students who discussed the use of GIS in everyday life. Our Solutions Engineer (and soon-to-be King’s College graduate!), Ben Ray spoke about our work with Catholic Relief Services in Sierra Leone, Africa and GIS business solutions.

GIS allows us to understand and visualize information based on locations. The powerful visual display capabilities present information in variety of ways including maps, reports, and charts. As the technology grows, so does its importance in even the most basic business applications. As one of the top required skills in engineering, urban planning, environmental science and other fields, GIS helps businesses make knowledgeable decisions based on data displayed on a geographical map.
“Everyone was excited to see how far technology is moving along in the GIS world,” exclaimed Ray. GIS is all about getting good data and mapping it out in a well-displayed manner. iFormBuilder provides this solution in conjunction with ArcGis Online maps services. As we strengthen our integration with ESRI, great reports are being created in a snap!
