We are thrilled to be attending and participating in Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) 5th ICT4D Conference! While we love to travel, we’re not in Accra, Ghana for a mini-vacation. Humanitarian aid workers and information technology experts from around the world have come together to discuss the latest innovations in mobile technology. In an effort to fight poverty around the world, the conference will highlight the growing field of information and communications technology for development (ICT4D).
Yesterday we were highly involved with check-in at the Alisa Hotel. Each registered attendee was given a name tag with their own personal barcode. Using iFormBuilder and Socket Mobile Scanners, we worked alongside conference staff to scan the barcodes of attendees. The barcode contains unique information about each participant, and once scanned, that information was sent directly to iFormBuilder running on iPads. This integration with Socket Mobile allowed for a quick and accurate account of all conference attendees. Information was immediately synced to the Cloud and stored for anaylsis. Among other data uses, CRS can manage attendee records and generate a list of registrants that did not attend.
CRS has emerged as a leader in the field of ICT4D. The forward thinking agency realized early that the use of technology empowers others to access imformation and services never before possible. We’re honored to team up with CRS, and to be presenting Capturing Good Data in a Disconnected World and serving on a panel for Business Models for ICT Development in the coming days.
