[teaser]Zerion Software’s ThunderPlug is the ultra disconnected solution that allows devices in an offline environment to sync to a centralized device to collaborate, view, and analyze the data.[/teaser]
Many projects require data collectors to be in an offline environment for weeks or months at a time. Typically all data is stored on each mobile device. This becomes problematic when one wants to view the aggregated data in the field and analyze. The ThunderPlug solves this need. With the ThunderPlug, devices are able to sync to the ThunderPlug be viewable and analyze the data on a computer. [dropcap4]1[/dropcap4] Test in a Connected Environment
Before any iFormBuilder Project, it is imperative to test, test, and test again to ensure correct functionality of the technology that is in place. It is important to test all devices connecting to the Plug to ensure they are configured to point to the ThunderPlug IP address and can successfully sync data. (Don’t forget to test the forms being used in the project to make sure the logic and form features are configured correctly too!)
[dropcap4]2[/dropcap4] Choosing a Power Supply
The ThunderPlug is a powerful tool, unless of course you are short on power supply. Deciding the best power supply for you scenario is important. If you are going to be working in a remote area all day with no access to power, a Solar pack with a battery would be the appropriate option. If you are going to have access to power throughout the day you will be able to plug the ThunderPlug in and sync records and continue working. You can also plug your ThunderPlug into a vehicle as long as you have the appropriate connector. Don’t forget the Power Cord!
[dropcap4]3[/dropcap4] Perform a Cloud Sync
The iFormBuilder Server receives updates very often as does the ThunderPlug. Before heading out to the field for your data collection project, ensure that you have performed a cloud sync to receive the latest updates to the ThunderPlug Software.
[dropcap4]4[/dropcap4] Secure the ThunderPlug
I recommend that the USB Encryption option is used to secure the ThunderPlug. Plugging the physical USB into the ThunderPlug will allow it to boot up and allow access to authorized users only. If the ThunderPlug is lost or stolen and is booted up without the USB key, you can be assured that the data on the plug is inaccessible.
The ThunderPlug is a great asset to data collection teams and helps them collect data in an ultra disconnected environment. Used all around the world from remote environments in the middle of Africa to disconnected parts of the US, the ThunderPlug is the tool of choice that I recommend for long term disconnected data collection.
